It took some time, but we found each other, and then we found our purpose.

Our family, our home, and our passion are what drives us forward to bring locally grown goodness to others.

Hi,

We’re Eric and Erin. We are the owners, growers, and caretakers here at our tiny, 1/4 acre farm in Antioch, IL. Our gardens flourish with flowers, vegetables, and fruits each season and we are grateful for every single bloom, blossom, and bounty we harvest.

Having grown up in Antioch, Erin cherishes her memories of summers infused with the scent of her mother’s sweet-smelling peonies and her grandmother’s flower beds bursting with delicate blooms of Lily of the Valley. As a professional wedding and event planner for over 15 years, flowers have been a central tenant of Erin’s work and they always seem to find their way back to her. What started as a small heirloom vegetable garden in the backyard soon grew into a bustling floral garden that allowed her to share her love of fresh-cut flowers with her community.

Originally from central Illinois, Eric is a classically trained chef who utilized his skills working in the restaurant industry’s operations division for over a decade before planting his first home garden. Over the years, Eric delighted in the idea of someday owning his own restaurant, but he could never quite find something that felt right. After a season of harvesting from our home garden, it was easy to see we needed to share what we were growing with our community. With his passion for fresh heirloom vegetables and fruits, and a desire to share real food with others, Little Moss Farms was born. While we currently focus on selling cut flowers, we have big dreams for our little farm to bring food and fauna together again in the future.

Together we are raising two boys, who occasionally moonlight as farm hands and chicken wranglers. We delight in cooking what we grow in our small kitchen, and every summer evening before dinner, we venture out to harvest fresh food from our garden… usually with a chicken in tow hoping for some garden nibbles. This little farm is our home, and we can’t wait to share more of it with our community one day.

At Little Moss Farms, we value local agriculture, small and family-owned businesses, transparency, and the importance of contributing to our town and our neighbors. We support other small family farmers and companies whose values align with ours.

We are committed to growing and sharing fresh flowers and goods that come from a natural environment. We use biodiverse, organic growing practices, and we strive to integrate as many renewable operations within our business as possible. We create our own compost, we save seeds, and reuse, and recycle whenever possible. We value a core truth that we are the temporary stewards of our land, and it’s our mission to keep it bountiful for generations to come.

Our small farm is operated with the notion that every moving part is important to the final product. We grow everything from the best non-GMO seeds and bulbs, sourced from reputable growers and other family-owned farms. We choose heirloom varieties when possible. We use natural farming practices which means that every flower, fruit, or vegetable grown on our land was planted by hand, nurtured by sunlight, and harvested without the use of heavy machinery. When you receive goods from Little Moss Farms, you can be sure it was picked from the plant, pulled from the coop, or cut from the stem that very same day.

We continue to improve our farming practices by expanding the diversity of our farm, applying new techniques, and taking chances. We accept failure because we know that in every failure, there is a lesson. We are open and transparent about our journey as first-generation farmers. We do this because we believe that by sharing our journey along with our knowledge, we can help others pursue their dreams too.

Our purpose is to use our time here on this land to build something bigger and more beautiful for our family, and our community. We’re so glad you’re here, and hope you’ll come along for the journey.
